ABOUT FRASER ISLAND
Fraser Island has been named one of the World's Sexiest Islands 2005 by the prestigious American business magazine Forbes. It is the only Australian island in the list.
The list says Fraser's "enormous sand dunes provide plenty of space and privacy for frolicking on the beach" and it names Kingfisher Bay Resort as the place to stay.
Fraser Island has an amazing array of natural wonders including over 100 freshwater lakes, some tea-coloured and others clear and blue with white sandy beaches.
The island's beautiful sand tracks and the magnificent ocean beach highway are popular for four-wheel driving. Seventy-Five Mile Beach is popular with fishermen.
Immense sand blows and cliffs of coloured sands line the beach and the wreck of the cruise ship Maheno sits rusting on the beach. Keep a look out for birds of prey and Fraser Island dingoes.
