HOW TO GET THERE
Located on Queensland's east coast, Hervey Bay is the gateway to Fraser Island with an easy 45 minute catamaran crossing from Urangan Boat Harbour. For a regional map see www.kingfisherbay.com.

By road - Self-drive
Hervey Bay is just a 4 hour drive north of Brisbane. Travel north on the Bruce Highway to Maryborough, then follow the signs to Hervey Bay. Stay on the main road which becomes Boat Harbour Drive and follow the signs to Urangan Boat Harbour.

By road - Daily bus service from Brisbane: $72 adult one way
This scheduled daily service drops you straight to Urangan Boat Harbour in Hervey Bay to meet the fastcat to Fraser. Pick ups available from Brisbane city accommodation and Brisbane Airport.

By Coach
Greyhound, Oz Experience or any of the major coach operators have daily services to and from Hervey Bay. Transfers are available from Bay Central Coach Terminal to Urangan Boat Harbour.

By Air
Virgin Blue and Jetstar fly direct from Sydney to Hervey Bay, with easy connections from Melbourne, Adelaide and New Zealand. Sunshine Express operates several daily services from Brisbane and the Sunshine Coast to Hervey Bay. Coach transfers are available between Hervey Bay Airport and Urangan Boat Harbour - book with Kingfisher Reservations (cost applies).

By Rail
Tilt Train from Brisbane (from the south) or Rockhampton (from the north) to Maryborough Station with Queensland Rail coach connection direct to Urangan Boat Harbour. Visit www.traveltrain.com.au for up to date timetables and check out the Rail Pass options.

Pick up from Hervey Bay
Let us know where you're staying (minimum 24 hours notice) and we'll pick you up between 7.00 and 8.00am, nice and easy! Courtesy coach transfers are also available from Bay Central Coach Terminal to the boat harbour. A cost applies for transfers to and from Hervey Bay Airport.

TOUR DEPARTURE DETAILS
Cool Dingo Tours depart at 8.45am daily on the Kingfisher Catamaran from Urangan Boat Harbour - make sure you check in at the Kingfisher Bay Mainland Terminal by 8.30am.

The cruise to Fraser takes around 45 minutes. Your Cool Dingo Ranger-guide will meet you at the Kingfisher Bay jetty and after the introductions and a quick briefing, your 4WD adventure begins!

If you're staying an extra night before or after your Cool Dingo Tour, the Kingfisher fast cat has four return services each day.

WHAT TO BRING?
You'll need to have a day-pack ready when you check in at the boat harbour, as your first 4WD adventure begins as soon you get to Fraser. Your backpack or other luggage will be delivered to the Wilderness Lodge storage area for you to collect in the afternoon. Don't forget to pack your swimmers, towel, hat, sunscreen, comfy walking shoes or sandals, and of course a camera to click all the action!  Cold water is available on tour however it's a good idea to take your own bottle.

Although Cool Dingo Tours are all-inclusive, don't forget money for souvenirs, drinks at the bar, and of course the National Park Permit Levy. Kingfisher Bay Resort's Village Store sells resort wear, groceries, drinks & snacks, alcohol, sun-screen, insect repellent, batteries, film etc.

CLIMATE
Average summer temperature 29C (86F), average winter temperature 22C (72F). Make sure you bring warmer clothing for cool winter nights.

ACCOMMODATION
Forget fidgety nights with tents and sleeping bags... our comfy Wilderness Lodges promise a good night's rest on Fraser! The modern timber lodges are surrounded by gum trees, bush plants and native birds, so you'll still get your nature fix!

Each lodge has twin, double and quad-share bedrooms, all fully screened. Bedrooms have ceiling fans to keep you cool during summer and heating for those chilly winter nights. Linen, blankets and bath towels are provided and there's separate male and female bathrooms, each with two showers. Lodges have an open lounge area and kitchenette with tea & coffee making facilities. Ironing facilities are also available, and there's a coin-laundry nearby.

The Wilderness Lodges are located on the hill north-east of Kingfisher Bay Resort's main complex (and just across from the Dingo Bar... very handy!!) There's a regular shuttle service between the lodges and resort - check transfer times with your guide.

MEALS
You won't go hungry on a Cool Dingo Tour with great buffets served on the Dingo Bar deck and hearty picnic lunches to enjoy on tour. No tinned camping fare, powdered milk or warm drinks, and the best thing... no cooking or washing up!

Breakfast - kick-start for the day's action with a full cooked and continental buffet at the Dingo Bar. Includes bacon, sausages, scrambled eggs, baked beans, toast & spreads, cereals, fruit, tea/coffee and juice.

Lunch - On Day 1 we conjure up an ‘al fresco' buffet with fresh bread rolls, chicken, cold meats and a variety of salads. Day 2 - tuck in to a lunch pack of roast chicken, salad and mini baguette. Picnic lunches also include muffins, cookies and cold drinks. On Day 3 we head to Eurong Beach Resort for a relaxed BBQ lunch by the Beach Bar including steak, sausages, fish, veggie patties, bread rolls and a variety of salads with tea, coffee and juice.

Dinner - buffet dinners at the Dingo Bar alternate between Pizza/Pasta and Mexican themes, both with vegetarian options and salad bar - plenty to eat after a big day! After dinner, party on at the bar and nightclub with great music, games and drink specials.

Dietary requirements? Our kitchen can cater for vegetarians and other special dietary needs (gluten free etc) as long as we're given sufficient notice... please advise when booking.

SMOKING
Smoking is prohibited inside all buildings.

RESORT FACILITIES
At the Dingo Bar, adjacent to the Wilderness Lodges, you'll find internet access, payphones, an automatic teller machine (ATM), pool tables and a coin operated laundry. At night the bar comes alive with great music, drink specials, games and prize give-aways. You're also welcome to use the facilities at Kingfisher Bay Resort, including the other bars, swimming pools and spas, massage & beauty clinic, tennis courts and watersports. You might be tempted to book an extra night or two!

Your guide is a true Fraser guru and will not only take you to the island's most incredible spots, but also wow you with fascinating facts about the island's history, fauna and flora. Your guide stays with you for the entire tour - we guarantee a fun and entertaining time or the cool dingo eats his hat!

The credentials - our team of interpretive rangers comprise the largest privately-operated ranger team in Australia, which hold Eco Guide Certification from Ecotourism Australia. Rangers provide Aboriginal and European history, general information and an environmental ethic on guided walks and 4WD tours exploring Fraser's significant natural and geological features, and on marine cruises to see dolphins, dugong, and humpback whales.
